A Dream Wedding
After years of not being able to go home to my hometown (Daet, Bicol), my mom was nothing but surprised to hear me asking her to send the driver to fetch me from Manila. She was even more shocked when she realized I will be in town for nearly 2 weeks haha! Anyway, I was going home for my friend Suzette’s (my dear friend of over 23 years!) wedding. A wedding that perhaps my whole high school barkada has waited for ever since we were in 4th year high school, and we wouldn’t miss it for anything else!
It finally came after years of waiting (parang ako yung bride? haha), and it was the happiest day for my friend Zet. I just couldn’t miss the event. It was extraordinary, and heartfelt. Every bridesmaid, secondary sponsor, family and friends were hands on with the event. From the souvenir cookie baking, packaging, reception venue arrangement, floral arrangements, we were all in it together days before the wedding. It took our time and energy, but we enjoyed every minute of it, and it was all WORTH it. I’d say it was the best wedding for me in 2012. It wasn’t just about the bride and groom’s love for each other but it was also a celebration of how friends will be with you before, during, and after your very special day – I mean literally!
Not sure if you’re reading this blog, but to my dear friend Suzette, it was really magical how going home to daet, helping you out in the wedding preps, being with you during and after your wedding day has made me look back to how we all started as friends when we were young. To all the fun stuff, telebabad, first time we had cellphones and how everyone would pass it around just to play Snake, chismisan about our crushes that never seemed to end, petty barkada fights up to open forums (haha), and most importantly how we all made it through and we’re still all friends! Yes it was your wedding, though we really felt that it was also a celebration of our life long friendship (Ton, ok lang ba? haha). Sana nga wedding mo every year! haha! I wish you and Ton all the best! I know your love will be forever!
This post won’t really be me if without photos, so here they are! More of them in my FB account.
Wedding day summary:
After the wedding bonfire + streetfood + booze = party all night:
It was such a fun evening, from the college and highschool friends merging, the introductions, the funny and silly games, the unforgettable PING, PANG, PONG when everyone was already drunk, it was all priceless! I’m sure the bride and groom wouldn’t want to have it any other way. Zet, we really really hope that we were able to help you have your dream wedding! I love you bru!
And as for me, it was definitely the best year ender! Cheers!
