My Love-Hate Relationship with McDo

I LOVE FASTFOOD. That’s a given, and who doesn’t? Who would exchange for convenience, affordable food, availability, with an OK quality? I am one of those frequent drive-thru goers, especially because there’s one branch that’s almost right across where I live.

But above all the good things that fast food has to offer, the below charts display THE MAIN REASON why sometimes I “hate” going to McDo (for lack of a better term), but nevertheless after a while, I always end up going back! haha!

Golden Arches Development Corporation has previously published a full list of McDonalds’ Philippines food nutrition facts. Read on and compute the CALORIES you consume in a week :p

I guess at the end of the day, it boils down to how much you eat. For sure a little amount a week won’t hurt, as long as you equip yourself with ample exercise, and match it with healthy food for most of your days.

Happy healthy eating! 🙂

A Dream Wedding

After years of not being able to go home to my hometown (Daet, Bicol), my mom was nothing but surprised to hear me asking her to send the driver to fetch me from Manila. She was even more shocked when she realized I will be in town for nearly 2 weeks haha! Anyway, I was going home for my friend Suzette’s (my dear friend of over 23 years!) wedding. A wedding that perhaps my whole high school barkada has waited for ever since we were in 4th year high school, and we wouldn’t miss it for anything else!

It finally came after years of waiting (parang ako yung bride? haha), and it was the happiest day for my friend Zet. I just couldn’t miss the event. It was extraordinary, and heartfelt. Every bridesmaid, secondary sponsor, family and friends were hands on with the event. From the souvenir cookie baking, packaging, reception venue arrangement, floral arrangements, we were all in it together days before the wedding. It took our time and energy, but we enjoyed every minute of it, and it was all WORTH it. I’d say it was the best wedding for me in 2012. It wasn’t just about the bride and groom’s love for each other but it was also a celebration of how friends will be with you before, during, and after your very special day – I mean literally!

Not sure if you’re reading this blog, but to my dear friend Suzette, it was really magical how going home to daet, helping you out in the wedding preps, being with you during and after your wedding day has made me look back to how we all started as friends when we were young. To all the fun stuff, telebabad, first time we had cellphones and how everyone would pass it around just to play Snake, chismisan about our crushes that never seemed to end, petty barkada fights up to open forums (haha), and most importantly how we all made it through and we’re still all friends! Yes it was your wedding, though we really felt that it was also a celebration of our life long friendship (Ton, ok lang ba? haha). Sana nga wedding mo every year! haha! I wish you and Ton all the best! I know your love will be forever!

This post won’t really be me if without photos, so here they are! More of them in my FB account.

It was such a fun evening, from the college and highschool friends merging, the introductions, the funny and silly games, the unforgettable PING, PANG, PONG when everyone was already drunk, it was all priceless! I’m sure the bride and groom wouldn’t want to have it any other way. Zet, we really really hope that we were able to help you have your dream wedding! I love you bru!

And as for me, it was definitely the best year ender! Cheers!

Our New Home

At exactly 8:00 AM Eastern Time on December 12, 2012 (12-12-12), an official press release has been announced that NASDAQ OMX that has agreed to acquire Thomson Reuters’ IR, PR and Multimedia Solutions Services Unit worth $390 million — and I am part of it.

The news was first told that we were being sold in June 2012, and from then all it was for us were anxiety. However, with this breaking news, the mood at work has started to change and swayed towards a more positive 2013 ahead of us. NASDAQ OMX currently still does not have a Manila Operational Center hence we will be the first batch and that made me more excited!

Right now I’m having early separation anxiety with Thomson Reuters, where I had my first ever job after I got out of college; where I’ve built my career for 8 years, 1 month and 2 days to be exact from the announcement day. But I’m sure things will turn around once I’ve already settled with my new employer. According to reports, deal may be closed as early as the first quarter of 2013.

So goodbye Thomson Reuters and hello Nasdaq — our new home!

Could it be the last?

You would probably think it’s too early, but this is how my beloved Thomson Reuters does it every year. We book early dates for our Year End Event (Christmas Party) to secure a huge location to house all of our over 2000 employees in the Manila Operation Centers.

This year for me is special because seriously it could be my last. Not because I am resigning or anything, but there are circumstances that our group is under, so who knows who my new employer will be in the next 3-6 months.

The theme for this year’s party was a “Yuletide Fashion Ball”. Hence it was all about how you express your own fashion. I was really amazed by the runway that they created this year, the stage production was really grand (at least for me), and invited hosts who are fashion-relevant as well (models).

Of course the party won’t be complete without food, so we all dined buffet style catered by Via Mare. There were also group presentations, all about fashion in different themes and they were really amazing. It was a good show to watch. They also raffled off lots of items, the grand prize being 3 Macbook Airs which I unfortunately wasn’t able to bring home. Sigh. haha!

Anyway, here are more photos from the event:

Impromptu dinners are best!

My childhood bestfriend Jaq was in town (again!) and we met up for an impromptu dinner late Sunday night! Yes, I know it’s a weird time to go out and eat (and drink a little hehe), but how can I not resist seeing this gorgeous lady!

La Mesa Grill, MOA

It was nice seeing you again bru, when you’re back in December we should hang out longer, sobrang bitin! Love you! 🙂

Best 6th birthday, ever!

My nephew Simon, loving his balloon and cake!

It’s Time

So this is what you meant
When you said that you were spent
And now it’s time to build from the bottom of the pit
Right to the top
Don’t hold back
Packing my bags and giving the academy a rain check

I don’t ever want to let you down
I don’t ever want to leave this town
‘Cause after all
This city never sleeps at night

It’s time to begin, isn’t it?
I get a little bit bigger, but then I’ll admit
I’m just the same as I was
Now don’t you understand
That I’m never changing who I am

So this is where you fell
And I am left to sell
The path to heaven runs through miles of clouded hell
Right to the top
Don’t look back
Turning to rags and giving the commodities a rain check

I don’t ever want to let you down
I don’t ever want to leave this town
‘Cause after all
This city never sleeps at night

It’s time to begin, isn’t it?
I get a little bit bigger but then I’ll admit
I’m just the same as I was
Now don’t you understand
That I’m never changing who I am

It’s time to begin, isn’t it?
I get a little bit bigger, but then I’ll admit
I’m just the same as I was
Now don’t you understand
That I’m never changing who I am

This road never looked so lonely
This house doesn’t burn down slowly
To ashes, to ashes

It’s time to begin, isn’t it?
I get a little bit bigger, but then I’ll admit
I’m just the same as I was
Now don’t you understand
That I’m never changing who I am

It’s time to begin, isn’t it?
I get a little bit bigger, but then I’ll admit
I’m just the same as I was
Now don’t you understand
That I’m never changing who I am

Because I’m so random…

Can’t believe how lazy I’ve become, here’s my measly 5 30-minute workouts in a span of 3 weeks:

From runkeeper.com

Ber months are here, Christmas is coming, lots of lunches and dinners here and there. Not to mention weddings!! 🙂 I wonder how I can recover???
